Mise-en-scene action film - Sherlock Holmes

The use of mise-en-scene in this action film is effective as it instigates the two main characters in this poster, and the positioning in this poster shows the rank at which each character stands. The different uses of mise-en-scene shows how this poster is effective in presenting.
The first part that stands out the most is the costumes. The costumes are effective as they can be easily seen and stand out the most as they take up most of the camera space. The clothes represent that they are from old fashioned times, as the patterned fabric is quite old time. This lets the audiance know that this film isnt in the time today, either that or the film is about more posh people. The use of the top hat on one of the characters shows the poshness of this character compared to Sherlock Holmes who has messy hair. The audiance already know that the man with the messy hair is sherlock holmes as the positioning of him is in the front, making him the first character that the audiance sees.
The use of props in the background (including a woman, dog, and alcohol bottle) shows that these are important aspects of the film. It makes the audiance want to know why these are important for the film, therefore convincing them to go see it.

The use of editing is also used in this poster, this is how the poster becomes blue. The use of this blue background makes it more brighter to the other films that are on show, it also brings across that this film isnt as scary as a horror, it brings across a light hearted mood. This is an idea I could consider using for my opening two minutes, it could show the titles at the top.
The other use of editing is the blurring of the objects or people in the background, which is good as it merges in with the blue in the background. The writing and the old time setting makes this more in the idea that this is a mystery film, which the audiance bring across.

I found this helpful because it helps me decide which path to go, and this mixed with ashes to ashes and House have made me decide that I am going to choose action, as I can make something similar to the gorillaz clip for their music video. In order to make this successful I need to analyse sound and editing, this will enable me to perfect my clip.
