Use of Costumes in Action Films.

The use of this costume determines to the viewer that she is high powered, and has a lot of money. This is because of the way she is dressed, it is very proper and neat and shows glamour, compared to other characters in sherlock holmes. The use of costume is important for this woman as it shows that she is the cliched to show that she has been included in the clip for attractive purposes, and that women are only included to be attractive. The other cliche that makes this character a cliche is that she has been shown to use her sttractiveness as power, and therefore she is a character that the audiance tend to hate because she is against the main charatcer.

The use of costume that sherlock holmes wears is grubby and old, showing that he has less power than the woman. This makes the audiance feel more connected to this character as the film goes along because he is the one that the audiance follow in the film, and you tend to hate the woman because of the demeanor of her appearance. It is cliched that the attractive woman falls for the grubby man, which is what I think I should include in my opening clip, a split between high powered and low powered. The use of prop however makes him more powered, because the gun makes him look in charge, a cliche that men are interested in because he is the hero, and the hero needs to save the woman.

This is the cliched idea of the man who men want to be, enpowered. This is what I need to include in mine as action films don't include fancy gear in men, which is what happens for women. With men, it includes leather jackets and dark clothing, not paying much attention to it. The use of costume is just to appear more manly, so it is plain clothing and not over the top. The use of guns is the main prop that needs to be focused on as it what interests the male audiance the most, as they want to the person holding the gun themselves.

Whatever my action film includes it needs to be downgraded when it comes to costume, exept with women. Women are the only ones that are dressed in bright gear whereas men are meant to look as if they didnt pay much attention, and this is therfore more masculine, which is the point of an action film.
